Brief description
On this geosite there is a sedimentary sequence of areno-conglomeratie tuffites and interspersed siltstones on the lavic sequence. It is the only sediment outcrop currently known on Madeira Island that contains plant remnant macrofossils, and is one of two deposits of plant fossils referenced by naturalists and geologists of various nationalities since the mid - 19th century.
Lava flows of mugearite can also be found on the site.
