Geoscience education

Teaching should wage on the geological sciences (geoscience), as these are form valuable teaching-learning ways and stimulate and widen the curiosity about the world. They also contribute to the construction of a coherent reasoning about the basic constituents, organization and dynamics of natural systems, enabling the acquisition of specific and transversal skills.

Thus, the geosciences education and teaching become essential to the development of a variety of skills that compete for an eclectic scientific culture, useful to the performance of informed citizens in the current and future society.

                    (Adaptado de Calonge , 2011)

More recently, geosciences seeks also to contribute to environmental solutions, namely in the fields of geological risk, desertification, water resources and climate change. These features are related to environmental education as the individual action is necessary before the changes the planet faces.
